KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, May 22 — American planes in pursuit of Taliban fighters bombed a village in southern Afghanistan and killed 16 civilians and wounded 15 more, among them women and children, the local governor and villagers said today. The United States-led coalition said it had conducted a "successful operation" in the area and killed at least 20 Taliban fighters in the bombing Sunday night and may have killed another 60.

It's nice to see the U.S. returning to what it does best in The War On Terror. I really think to seal his legacy Bush could do worse than declaring a war on illiteracy - which would of course involve troops appearing suddenly at public schools, dragging the worst students out of class, and shooting them.

How about a war on Christianity? That would accomplish a lot in the war against illiteracy, too, by eliminating a lot of stupid people.
